Ahhh… It’s that time of year again. We’re talking azure Riviera views, slinky cocktail dresses, legs for days and, of course, that unmistakable din, reminding you that you’re exactly where you need to be – the hottest Grand Prix Party, at Amber Lounge.

Monaco’s opulent streets and lavish harbour come alive in May, when the principality welcomes the annual Formula 1 Grand Prix. Fans of the sport and socialites alike gather around the twists and turns of the circuit extending through Monte Carlo and La Condamine, to experience this adrenaline-fuelled race trackside – either ‘inland’ or from the deck of a luxury yacht.

F1 drivers and esteemed guests come together in one big celebration, energised by the abundant sunlight, the picture-perfect scenery – #nofilterneeded – and the pure thrill that comes with the race. For most, though, the stylish after-parties are where the true fun begins. Amber Lounge Monaco are responsible for the Monte Carlo Grand Prix’s best parties (and most epic hangovers).

The roots of these iconic nights of bachanalia can be traced back to 2003, when Sonia Irvine, sister of former racing driver Eddie Irvine, first organised a special get-together for Formula’s family and friends.

Fifteen years later – having also followed F1’s calendar to places like Singapore, Abu Dhabi and Mexico City – Amber Lounge is celebrating its crystal anniversary in Monaco, right where it all began. If you’re lucky enough to attend this year’s race, prepare for a series of spectacular events, bound to make Grand Prix 2018 the most memorable one yet.

The three-night extravaganza kicks off on Friday May 25, with a dashing fashion show by Alessandra Vicedomini; the knitwear designer has created a capsule collection meant to reflect “the aristocratic glamour around, with a touch of interesting sparkle”. During the show, you can support F1 driver Jackie Stewart’s Race Against Dementia foundation at a curated charity auction. For the gourmet enthusiasts, fine dishes and unlimited champagne await at the venue’s restaurant, in a stunning waterfront setting.

The weekend festivities do not fall short, either. During the day, a ticket to Amber Lounge’s tri-deck celebrity superyacht will have you sipping afternoon tea just metres away from the action. What better way, really, to watch the race than in the calm waters of Port Hercule. Feel free to mingle with celebrities, before welcoming the drivers on board – the likes of Stoffel Vandoorne, Esteban Ocon and Marcus Ericsson are among those expected to attend. At night, enjoy mouthwatering cocktails and spirited live performances by international bands, saxophonists and DJs, set to reach their peak at the closing F1 Driver Post Race Party on Sunday.

And if you find yourselves drained from all the non-stop partying, stay one more day, if only for some sleep and a quiet walk along the shoreline – guaranteed to cure your Vitamin D deficiency in no time. As you feel the gentle, salty breeze on your skin, listen carefully; you might hear that last engine growl, now fading in the background.
